Paystackby Shola Akunlade
Paystack, a payments company often described as "Stripe for Africa," started as a simple payments API for Nigerian merchants after co-founder Shola Akunlade watched businesses struggle to accept online payments. The company grew through word of mouth from its waitlist, early merchants, and referrals from small companies to larger ones, and it joined Y Combinator. By the time of the interview, the founder said it was processing about $26 million a month and had grown to around 36 people.
